Projects

The MNTB often works on a variety of projects, and has recently completed the development of National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Maritime Hospitality Management on board passenger vessels and super-yachts and for Shore-Based Ship Management.

The MNTB undertook a project over the summer to establish the range, nature and extent of onboard training.  The project focussed primarily on officer trainees, and also considered the onboard culture in general terms in so far as it supports training for all, including ratings.  Less formal aspects of training such as coaching and mentoring were included in the project.

The Onboard Training Report has recently been considered by the MNTB Main Board and a working group is being set up to look at the recommendations made, with a view to determining immediate and long-term outcomes it feels it is important and appropriate for the Board to pursue.
