Our Board Members

The Board's Chairman is Commodore David Squire, CBE, FNI, FCMI.

Commodore David Squire is a Master Mariner and experienced senior manager.
Since his retirement from the Royal Fleet Auxiliary in 1999, David has remained active in the maritime world, through his membership of the Nautical Institute's Papers and Technical Committee; as a member of Council and of the Operations Committee of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution; and as a Trinity House Navigational Examiner.

David is the editor of Alert!, the award-winning International Maritime Human Element Bulletin, and the editor of the Journal of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners.  He was a consultant editor to the Lloyd's Register publication The Human Element - an introduction and was a consultant to Lloyd's Register in the formulation of their Human Element Gap Analysis project.

David is general secretary to the Marine Accident Investigators' International Forum (MAIIF), an international non-profit organisation dedicated to the advancement of maritime safety and to the prevention ofmarine pollution through the exchange of ideas, experiences and information acquired in marine accident investigation.

As an Elder Brother of Trinity House David is the Director of Maritime Training responsible for the Trinity House Merchant Navy Scholarship Scheme, which offers bursaries to up to 30 men and women annually who wish to train to be deck, engine or electro-technical officers in the merchant service; and for the Professional Yachtsman Bursary Scheme, which offers bursaries to men and women who want to train as deck officers in the superyacht sector.
